Q: I am now depressed over the thought that any decent game will be slowly turning into a Call of Duty clone. It's bad enough that quality RPGs are slowly disappearing, but to be taken over by a CoD clone? I think I'll go hang myself now.
I can’t recall any single series having this much of an impact on the climate of gaming last generation. Seriously, nothing comes to mind. There was a little bit of every genre to choose from; no singular type of game design conquered and shoved out the rest like Call of Duty’s twitch formula of FPS.
Then again, GTAIII opened the floodgates on sandbox games in the PS2’s era. But I don’t remember drowning in free roam titles.
