Mortal Kombat X: Klassic Fatalities and Story DLC Hinted

We’re merely a week out from the 24 year-old fighter’s latest release in Mortal Kombat X, but already are rumors and hints being flung around the internet like Kung Lao’s razer-bladed hat.

Namely, murmurs have been geared toward possible DLC being planned for the game that would push the immense number of unplayable fighters sprinkled throughout the story campaign into the playable arena. Personally, its irksome to see fan favorites like Rain, Smoke, Kabal, and Baraka sidelined to guest appearances. They’ve all got new designs, and at least some semblance of a move list since they can fully serve you a beatdown when encountered.

Ed “Twitterality” Boon himself, ko-creator of the series, slipped in the slightest hint to a fan asking whether or not we’d see future content patch the kombatants into the game. Boon coyly replied, “U mean like a ‘Story Pack’?”

It’s already common knowledge that the roster is to be extended by at least four fighters – the returning MK4 fighter, Tanya; a fan imagining come to life named Tremor; and a pair of licensed guest stars in Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees and Predator’s famed Yautja, who you’ll just call ‘Predator.’ But this could be our first clue that Mortal Kombat X’s universe may be expanding more than we figured (at a price, of course).

In other news that’ll gouge your wallet, intrepid Steam users digging around the admittedly buggy PC version code for the game stumbled upon two files tellingly labeled “Klassic Fatalities 1″ and “Klassic Fatalites 2.” Doesn’t take a detective to piece that evidence together. Is Sub-Zero’s infamous spine rip coming back? Will Scorpion once again go all Ghost Rider and spew flames upon his victims? Yeah. Yeah, probably. “Klassic” sure as hell doesn’t mean Fatalities from MK: Deadly Alliance.

Wouldn’t you like to live in a world where crowds of blood-starved onlookers run from one brutal fight to the next on the whim of a text?

You’re taking too long to answer. It’s too late, this is your reality now. FIGHT!

The King of Gore is Back for More: Official Mortal Kombat X Trailer

It’s good to see MK hasn’t gotten soft in its old age. After 23 years of decapitations, dismemberments, and disembowelments, the brutality Mortal Kombat is known and loved for looks even more joyously disgusting than ever. And, thanks to the power of current-gen consoles, it’s never looked better, either.
