‘Nemesis Mode’ Exclusive Xbox 360 DLC for Operation Raccoon City
Capcom has announced that Xbox 360 owners can expect an extra multiplayer mode for their very multiplayer-focused Resident Evil spin-off. “Nemesis Mode” plays out like standard USS/Spec Ops versus, with the horrific twist of one team vying for control of Umbrella’s gold star science project: the Tyrant-class B.O.W. codenamed Nemesis.
What’s the catch? It’s day one DLC. I know, the very sound of that stings. Offered for 320 MS points, I’d venture a guess that we’re not looking at a traditional download (funny that, it being called DLC), but disc locked content much like the Versus mode was on Resident Evil 5 or, say, the numerous characters and data discovered once a daring hacker lived up to his namesake and hacked Street Fighter X Tekken. If you follow that link, you’ll find PS3-exclusive characters in the 360 data pool, just waiting around until they’re priced; jumping to sound conclusions, I’d gather Nemesis Mode will be a timed exclusive for Xbox fans and the content will eventually see its way to Sony’s platform.
I love you, Capcom. You gave me Resident Evil. But this DLC business is getting downright fucking ugly. You’re blurring the line between “additional content” and “incomplete games." I understand it all comes down to a matter of numbers and making those numbers multiply – but remember that those numbers come from breathing, thinking people and mistreating them will definitely impact sales.
