Among the Sleep (PC/Mac - 2013)

Developed by Norwegian small-timers Krillbite Studios, Among the Sleep places you in the footies of a two-year-old child.  Your perspective matches your age, as the child’s imagination gives way to sights both wondrous and dangerous.  Navigating the toddler in first-person, you’re tasked with using creativity to overcome obstacles planted directly at the precipice between reality and a hazy dream.  You can check out a trailer for the game here.

It’s all fascinatingly surreal, especially the way sound design comes into play during the brief preview where a mundane living room is transformed into a foreboding gauntlet of peril.  We’re a ways off from seeing the final product – “next year” is the firmest release Krillbite promises – but I’m already interested to see how this mind-bender plays out.

Diablo III has a commercial?  I don’t know, man, I think it might actually come out next mo– Shit, Blizzard heard me; it’s delayed again.

If you’re confused by the dull roar coming from the internet today, know that Blizzard has officially slapped a release date on the long, long, long-awaited PC sequel, Diablo III.  Get your hands on a copy physically or digitally on May 15th, 2012.  I didn’t mean to say 2014, by the way.  Diablo III is happening this year.

You can pre-order on the Battlenet or receive a free copy for purchasing Blizzard’s World of Warcraft Annual Pass if you’re big on making commitments with the MMO giant.

Belated Bioshock Infinite Trailer

I’m sorry I missed this trailer from the batch out of 2011’s VGA’s – I caught it demoing in the store today, stopped everything I was doing, and sat in awe.  It’s always astounding to me how the subtle use of music can so completely set the tone for a trailer, giving me a chill up my spine when the title card fades in.
