RE6 PSA of the Day: New Demo Incoming Later This Month

We’re less than one month away from getting our hands on Resident Evil 6 (most of us, anyway), yet Capcom is commissioning another playable demo – and this time, it won’t cost you a copy of Dragon’s Dogma in order to gain access.

Xbox Live Gold members and the PlayStation Network (Plus subscription optional, apparently) will receive a previously unreleased demo on September 18th.  General admission begins the 25th for Xbox Live Free members.

Said to be different than the aforementioned Dragon’s Dogma demo, this new slice of RE6 is likely to be the much lauded Comic Con demo which featured improvements to the cumbersome camera and played host to better paced segments from the full game.  Of course, you could wait until October 2nd to keep your first playthrough fresh and untainted but…we both know that we’re not doing that.

Six Flags and Capcom Partner Up for ’Resident Evil 6 Flags Night’...

Six Flags and Capcom Partner Up for ’Resident Evil 6 Flags Night’ (Ugh)

What do you get when you mix a years old survival horror game with a decades old chain of theme parks?  A fucking horrendous marketing pun, that’s what.  I’ll let you continue puking until you reach the bottom of your stomach.  If the phrase “piping hot diarrhea” didn’t already exist, “Resident Evil 6 Flags Night” would be the runner up.  Somebody’s going straight to hell for that one and Satan won’t have the heart to look them in the eye when he explains why.

Yes, Capcom and Six Flags Theme Parks are running a promotion where, starting August 30th, preordering the upcoming Resident Evil 6 either online at Gamestop or in person automatically earns you a ticket special offering benefits to anyone attending Fright Fest on October 6th (you know, the accursedly named night in question) including discounted admission into the park, exclusive ride time on selected rollercoasters, and a free haunted house voucher.

Attending guests meeting the M-Rated age requirement will get a chance to play RE6 at demo kiosks and snag Resident Evil goodies from event street teams sweeping the park on the night of the 6th.  Of course, if you’re like me, you’ll be snuggly at home, plugging an endless stream of hours into the four-day-old RE6, away from swarms of drunk strangers, shrieking children, and the unwarranted anxiety they plague upon you (reach out on Live, if that’s the case, friend, and we’ll cave zombie faces in together).

The Red Herb Roundup - 8/14/12: The Gamescom Edition

Talk about an overwhelming day of news, folks.  Germany’s Gamescom has kicked off and the gaming industry is doling out screenshots, footage, and announcements galore.  And when I say “galore,” I actually mean “too goddamn much to keep up with, please poke my eyes out so that I don’t short out my brain."  We…we may have different definitions of "galore.”

But like a rising phoenix shooting towards the sky or, more similarly, a great white shark leaping from the ocean so as to tell a seagull just how the fuck he feels about gravity…The Roundup has risen once more.

Cheevo Hunters, Behold Resident Evil 6’s Achievement List

Thanks to the upstanding blokes at Xbox360Achievements, we’re now privy to almost every single one of Resident Evil 6’s achievements.

There’s a total of six secret achievements that are either probably plot related or require some unknown feat to unlock (Resident Evil 5 hid both achievements pertaining to Wesker and also stabbing a licker in the heart; a beastie missing from a few installments up until that point – maybe Capcom is guarding some familiar foes once more?).

I know we’re talking achievements but aside from the inclusion of a Platinum Trophy, I’m confident this list mirrors the trophies PS3 fans can come to expect this October.  The spoiler-ocity of the following list is debatable (it’s actually rather tame), but I’ve taken the liberty to entrap the information within this “Read More” to protect your virgin eyes.

Resident Evil 6 (PC/PS3/X360 - October 2nd)

The lovely Ms. Wong returns to the world of survival horror, taking center stage in a fourth campaign all to herself.  Coming in at the tail end of the three main story lines, Ada’s take on the events of Resident Evil 6 may be a case of saving the best for last.  Partnerless and thrown in the middle of walking, snarling biological catastrophes, Ada operates behind the scenes – turning the cogs on whatever plan she’s enacting while fighting for basic survival.

She’ll have to think more critically than aiming and pulling a trigger, though, since legacy features like puzzles once again come into play during her run through, forcing you to pull your wits about you.  RE6 looked like an over-stuffed package to begin with.  I’m glad the developers disagreed.
