The Moon of Doom is Crashing on Your Head (in 3D!)
Nintendo’s digging through its backlog once again for everyone’s favorite Hyrulian elf-venturer (he’s an elf, right? Because of the ears? And the preference towards tunics?).
Nintendo is bringing back quite possibly Link’s darkest adventure with The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask for the 3DS. First released fifteen years ago on the Nintendo 64, this Ocarina of Time semi-sequel sees Link reliving the same three days over and over again in order to prevent a skull-masked punk from crashing the moon into Termina, a land soon to be famous for having the goddamn moon crash into it.
Coming to 3DS in 2015, details are still pretty scarce beyond the game getting a visual face-lift; the same Ocarina of Time 3D benefited from in 2011. Nintendo’s Prez Satoru Iwata claims the remake’s team seeks to maintain the same level of challenge found in the 2000 original while trying to make “the game accessible for anyone.”
“This dark departure from the Zelda formula must have left some intense and scary memories in player’s minds,” mused Iwata…
…Don’t, uh, don’t know what you could mean…
…Right. It’s like Hellraiser and Groundhog’s Day tried to make a Saturday morning cartoon.
Get ready to meet with a terrible fate all over again next year.
