Video Games on TV - Jurassic Park (Sega Genesis, 1993)

Here’s a fun scrap of trivia.  One of five games created to promote Steven Spielberg’s monolithic blockbuster, the Genesis/Mega Drive version of Jurassic Park had the distinction of claiming Earthworm Jim’s creator, Doug TenNapel, as its lead artist.  The title spent fifteen months in development, an inordinate amount of time by 1993’s standards.

How long did it take the advertising executive to decide that the raptor in this commercial must scream and rave like a bastard lunatic?  Fifteen seconds.  It was especially in poor taste taking into account paleontologist Robert Bakker’s awkwardly tragic death at the end of the ad.
